FocusMate

A product I'm building to help students develop focus, discipline, and confidence... especially those who struggle with attention and staying on task.

FocusMate was born from what I observed keenly while teaching Level 2 and 3 students at Puddletown Chess. I noticed how focus improved for students with ADHD, and I learned valuable insights about supporting younger students with attention challenges. This experience inspired me to build a tool that could help more kids develop focus, discipline, and confidence.

The Problem

Why I'm Building FocusMate

While teaching Level 2 and 3 students at Puddletown Chess, I observed keenly how focus improved for students with ADHD. I saw firsthand what worked and what didn't, learning valuable lessons about supporting younger students with attention challenges. Students are expected to manage more than ever, but few tools are designed specifically for how they actually work and think. FocusMate is my attempt to change that, creating a tool that understands and supports different ways of focusing.

Built from Keen Observation

FocusMate was born from what I observed keenly while teaching Level 2 and 3 students at Puddletown Chess. I noticed how focus improved for students with ADHD, and I learned valuable insights about supporting younger students with attention challenges.

Building FocusMate has taught me how to think like a founder: from observing real problems to learning how to build responsibly and iterate thoughtfully. Every feature is designed with the understanding that students need tools that work with their reality, not against it, especially for kids who struggle with attention, focus, or ADHD.
